What An Interesting Place to Be These Days

For those of you new to North Greene Middle School, welcome; for those returning, welcome back.

As is obvious, there is a lot going on at NGMS. Some of it you'll be familiar with and some things will be new. Let me explain.

I am now Mrs. Rice. I was married to Charlie Rice, a retired engineer from ACH, in April of last year. He is not very good at staying home and being retired, so he is substitute teaching at North Greene High School in Industrial Arts. If the children have a hard time remembering to call me Mrs. Rice I don't mind still being called Mrs. Carlson. As a matter of fact I kept Carlson as my middle name.

Probably the biggest excitement around here, at this immediate time, is our embracing of technology for your children. We are learning new things every day and can't wait to share them with you. Attached to this post you will find the blog pages for our staff. If you click on the link your child's teacher probably has their blog constructed and has information to share with you. We welcome constructive comments and encourage you to ask questions. Please, however, remember that we are new to this and it may be a little rough at first. Your children all have the blog addresses of their teachers and are encouraged to visit on a regular basis.

We believe that, in this time, our children will do little that does not require creativity and the ability to think beyond simple answers. In order to teach these things in a manner that will enable them to participate in a world that is becoming smaller and smaller we will be utilizing the technology that is available to us. You may see a post constructed by your child and some classmates. You may see a DVD your child is a huge part of. We will be asking your child to use a computer and if you do not have one available at home we will make sure there is one here to use.

We are very excited about this school year. Please come visit us, or look us up on the web at www.ngmsrice1.blogspot.com.
